The Review
FromSoftware's open-world swing on the Soulsborne formula, set across the Lands Between, is widely regarded as the studio's most ambitious — and most accessible — work to date.
Critics consistently point to its sense of freedom: multiple viable builds, routes, and approaches to nearly every encounter, paired with a vast, gorgeously-realized world and a soundtrack many call some of the genre's best.
Players are more divided on its length and density — many love losing dozens of hours to its secrets, while others find the runtime bloated, the inventory and crafting menus cluttered, and the lack of in-game guidance more frustrating than rewarding. Even so, its Steam player score sits around 93% positive across more than a million reviews.
